I decided to start a second career as a nurse but had to take the TEAS test to get accepted into the ADN program at my community college. I have never taken microbiology or anatomy, and my last chemistry and biology classes were taken over 25 years ago. I scored an 88% raw score ("Advanced" rating), with a 98 percentile, nationally and for the ADN program. All I did was study this book. I did not buy the online tests. Here's a breakdown of each section and how the book compared to the actual test:1. Reading Comprehension. I studied the explanations of all the terms and did the practice questions. I did not take the practice exams in the back of the book because I was concentrating on the science section, but I wish I had taken the time to do these tests a few days before the test as they were very similar. You can't really study for a reading comprehension test, but it's helpful to practice the types of questions that will be asked and read the explanations for questions you missed.2. Math. This section was very easy, and almost all the problems were covered by the book, except for one work rate problem. You can google how to do these. The one thing I didn't study enough was what type of graph to use, given a set of data. This wasn't really covered well in the book either, so google it.3. Science. Sooooo hard! I almost started to cry after reading the first page because I could only confidently answer one of the first five questions. But I took a deep breath and thought about what I did know for each question, and used that information to make a best guess. I will say that every *topic* was covered in the book, but you will have to go out on your own and learn more about each topic. All I did was watch the youtube videos by Bozeman Science. They are all short (about 5-12 minutes long) and cover every topic in the book in greater detail. I think the Bozeman videos are much better than Khan Academy. There were a lot of chemistry questions (pretty basic) and a lot of scientific reasoning questions. I did not study that area enough. Even though I felt like I guessed on half the questions, I got a raw score of 77% so whatever I did must have worked.5. Grammar. This was the easiest section. Every question was covered in the book. Just read through it and do the sample problems.Keep in mind that you can make up for a bad science score with really good scores on the other categories, so don't just focus on science. Take the time to do all the practice problems and practice tests in each category, and you will be fine. Good luck!179 of 185 people found the following review helpful.AMAZINGLY ACCURATE!By Katherine KI SCORED IN THE 98TH PERCENTILE WITH THIS BOOK AND I ONLY STUDIED FOR THREE DAYS (~21 hours for 212 pages of material)!I took API, APII, and microbiology last year; however, my last chemistry class was 10 years ago. There are two practice tests in the back of the book. I highly recommend everyone to take at least one practice test. I took a practice test (~2.5 hours) the day before my big test (~3 hours) and received the same score!On the day of the exam, arrive at least 30 minutes early for your test, so you can get settled. The test is computerized and you need to create a username and password on ATItesting.com. The proctor will provide 2 pencils, 5 blank sheets of paper, and headphones to block out sound from your neighbors in the computer lab. There will be a timer at the top of your computer screen for you to keep track of time. You are allowed to use the restroom at any time during the exam. I would recommend going after you complete an entire section because you are not being timed when transitioning from one section to the next. You are not allowed to bring food, calculators, or cell phones into the computer lab. Purses, cell phones, and car keys are left in the proctor's office. You must place your photo ID on top of your desk. After completion of the exam, you will turn in all of your scratch sheets of paper. Then, you'll received a printed copy of your scores.I've attached a picture of the sub-scale from my test! You can view how many questions they'll ask on each topic. The score sheet shows the adjusted individual score, the mean score (national and program level), and the percentile rank (national and program level). My book is not in page order, Does fine until page 136 then skips to page 200-208 then down to 185 to 192 then down to 177 to 184 then runs backwards to 139 then forward to 143 then backward again then skips to 209. And even worse it has some wrong answers ( when you can find them, since its not in order, its difficult to find the right answers to the right questions)! I thought that it must be just ME being wrong but I looked up some of the questionable answers and actually found the book answers to be incorrect.
